Does it cost me any money when paramedics respond to my 911 call?
The other day I had to call 911 for an elderly relative, as she was experiencing some unexpected reactions (though not severe) to some medications she was taking. It was Friday night, after the doctor's office was closed, and I debated intensely on whether or not to call 911. He symptoms were not severe as to provide a definite need for emergency care; but I took the conservative approach, and went ahead and called 911. Within ten minutes, three firemen, two paramedics, a fire engine & an ambulance were gathered at my relative's home, and these emergency professionals performed an examination. They determined that she was okay, and that the effects would wear off in a short time. My question is: Does my relative get charged for this visit from the 911 professionals? If so, how much is a typical charge for a basic examination, and does medical insurance cover such things?
Many thanks in advance,
Zovoth
yes and yes,
you will get a bill and her insurance should cover it all.
if not the tax payers well pick it up
it can't go to collections
no and depends....i work for two ambulance services and we do not charge for non transports unless an advanced skill is used like an iv or a medication is given. then you will be charged.
