My insurance wont cover gastric bypass.?
I am a 30 year old male and am very overweight. I have insurance, but they do not cover gastric bypass. In order for them to cover it, we would have to add to the policy (family business) and everyone on the insurance policy would have to be added to this category, though no one else needs it. It would raise our insurance costs 30% which would be more than the cost of the surgery most likely. I dont have the money to pay for it in a liquid form. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!
You may want to double check with your insurance. I used to work for insurance and also had a gastric bypass. It usually needs authorization. If it is denied then you can appeal the denial. I have never heard of having to add people to a policy to cover a procedure.
