Advice on Auto Accident.?
My sister n law was in a auto accident that she did not cause. But, she did leave the scene. Because she didn't have insurance and she knew she was going to jail if she didn't show proof of insurance. at the time she had her children with her. Being that she left the scene the person from the other vehicle is trying to use that to her advantage to get money. The police report does not state my sister n law was charged for the accident or at fault. She was just charged for leaving the scene. Is my sister n law legally responsible to pay damages to the other driver even though it wasn't her fault? And, how can she get help with this matter?
not having insurance doesn't automatically make you responsible for the accident. She is better off confessing and taking her punishment
